MoeGo is a polished, popular system for groomers, and plenty of good salons run on it. Its prices climb in big steps, though, and the features most salons ask about sit on the higher plans. Here are real monthly numbers for a solo groomer, a busy salon and mobile vans, so you can see where each one comes out ahead.

Boarding and daycare prices are given on a demo. Card payments go through MoeGo Pay, whose rate isn't listed on the pricing page. Growth adds payroll and commission, the waitlist, advanced CRM and Reserve with Google; Ultimate adds unlimited automatic messages and a branded phone number.

When most of a month's payments go through your own Stripe or Square account, you pay $29.99 plus the card fee. Otherwise the month is priced by revenue: up to $3,000 is $29.99, then $59.99, $89.99, $124.99 and $149.99 above $30,000. Canadian prices start at CA$39.99. In-app messages, emails and notifications are included; texting is the add-on.

Software fees only, in US dollars. A salon with more than 2 team members can't use MoeGo Basic. "Cards" means most of the month was paid by card through the software. Card processing is extra on both, and MoeGo's Basic plan includes some texts, where BooknBuddy texting is an add-on.
So a solo groomer or a single van taking every payment by card will usually pay less on MoeGo Basic. Add a third person to a salon, a second van, or any Growth feature, and it turns around. Groomers have seasons, too: in a slow January our price drops with your month, and MoeGo's stays the same.

MoeGo features are taken from its pricing pages and help centre. Where a row says "not listed", we could not find it there; it may still exist.
Where BooknBuddy is different
The features don't sit behind a bigger plan
On MoeGo, a salon's third team member means Growth at $149, and unlimited automatic messages mean Ultimate at $239, per location. The waitlist, payroll and the custom price model are Growth features. BooknBuddy has one plan. The standby waitlist, staff hours and pay, and every pricing setup are there from the first day, whether you have one groomer or ten.
Your quiet months cost less
Grooming is seasonal. Spring and the weeks before Christmas are packed; January isn't. MoeGo's price is the same every month. Ours is worked out after each month closes, so a slow month drops back to a smaller bill without you changing anything.
Price the way your menu already reads
Most salon menus look like one of three things: a price for each size, one price that goes up with size, or prices by coat type. BooknBuddy asks which one is yours and sets up only that. Doodles can get their own packages, and matting, overdue and first-visit fees are added from the client's booking answers, with the extra minutes put on the groomer's day so the next dog isn't kept waiting.
Book the regulars for the year
Book the first groom, choose every six weeks for a year, and every date lands on a day that groomer actually works. Holidays and days off are moved for you before anything is booked, and you see the whole list first.
It's the fastest way to fill the next twelve months with the dogs who already love you.
Your own processor, not ours
MoeGo's help centre says outside card systems don't integrate with MoeGo: card payments in the software go through MoeGo Pay, and a payment taken anywhere else has to be typed in by hand. MoeGo Pay's rate isn't listed on the pricing page. With BooknBuddy you connect your own Stripe or Square account, so you know the rate and keep the account if you ever leave.

Where MoeGo is stronger
It's cheaper for one groomer or one van taking cards. Basic at $79 for a salon, or $49 for a van, is hard to beat at that size.
It's built for mobile grooming today. Smart Schedule plans the drive between houses on every plan, and Growth adds route optimization. BooknBuddy's route planning runs dog walks now, and the mobile grooming version is still being built.
Texts come in the plan. Every MoeGo plan includes a monthly text allowance. With BooknBuddy, in-app messages and emails are free and texting is a paid add-on.
It's bigger. MoeGo says its community has over 10,000 pet professionals, and it's rated about 4.7 out of 5 from more than 230 reviews on Capterra. BooknBuddy is newer and smaller. You deal directly with the people who build it, but there's no big company behind it.

Is BooknBuddy cheaper than MoeGo?

Can I use my own card processor with MoeGo?
